Our Kids

Enrique

Enrique

Enrique is the second to youngest in his family of 7 and has been coming to the foundation since he was about 7 months old. He was mostly raised by his older sisters, who are 12 and 14 years old, and attends with all 6 of his siblings. Now age 2, Enrique has learned to walk, play, laugh, and be tough at the JRF. Enrique is surprisingly agile and can climb and run around like the 5 year old children he plays with.

Modlen

Modlen

Modlen has been attending the JRF since Nov 2012 with his three younger siblings. He is warm-hearted and positive and plays an important role in taking care of his younger siblings. Modlen came to us with no academic knowledge at age 12. Despite his lack of knowledge, he has been an enthusiastic student and has learned basic math and reading skills.

Luis Mani

Luis Mani

Luis Mani is one of our most promising students. She has been with the JRF since the doors opened in 2010 and has made impressive progress. Even though she is only 13 years old, Luis Mani leaves behind her peers of all ages in the classroom. She is one of the most hard-working and mature students we have with ambitions to become a doctor.

Nini

Nini

Nini is the youngest of four girls and has been attending since February 2012. She is incredibly bright and has learned at an impressively quick rate. She excels in math, reading, and English class and is quite competitive in and outside of the classroom. She is goofy and charming and often captures the attention of visitors.

Yubensli

Yubensli

Yubensli has been attending since May 2013 and is the youngest of 4 brothers who attend the foundation. He is a bright and loving boy whose energy never stops. He is often seen climbing on David, playing ninjas with the other boys, and running while desperately holding his oversized, beltless pants up. His favorite nicknames for David and Catherine are fart-machine and kiss-machine.

Wilgues

Wilgues

Wilgues has been with the foundation since May 2013 and also attends with three brothers. Only age 9, Wilgues is very mature and especially protective of his little brothers. He loves puzzles and learning and has advanced quickly in his classes. He is bright and we know he will go far in his studies.

Elio

Elio

Elio is one of our only Dominican attendees and a great lover of all sports. He is 7 years old and attends with his older brother and cousin. Elio is an athlete. He competes in baseball and tag games with the bigger boys, and has been seen refusing to play with boys his age who “don’t know how to play.” Even though he may play hard on the court, he is very affectionate and a joy to have in the classroom.
